Torsion Spring Conversions
Sometimes it is necessary to engage in torsion spring conversion precisely because the original installation is out of date, and therefore does not conform to the modern minimums standards of convenience or even safety. In any case, the older structures tended to have a unique approach to the hardware where the spring was in the center of the torsion shaft in order to create a support bracket. Ideally, one should aim for an inside diameter of 19/32” so that the springs can be secured to the cones.
